Quite a lot of goodies this time, and I'm sensing a little bit of Murphy's Law in action. Both Birchbox and Ipsy sent me a black eyeliner. I know that some people said that they had a chance to choose a color for their eyeliner in Bbox, but if I had received the email I would not have participated. Why? Because BBox inundates us with emails ( at least that was my impression last month) maybe because I bought something from them and they were trying to get me to spend more.
Here's a heads up- aggressive marketing ( and that's what I call emailing your customer daily/ more than two-three times a week) gets your email filtered straight to my spam box. I don't have time for all those emails. I'm not interested in all those emails even if I personally subscribed to them. /end of rant
Let's get straight to the mandatory hair product sample.
Keims Hair Cleanshine Shampoo
Peppermint&Macadamia
full size: 250 ml - $9
Sample size 50 ml/1.69 fl oz -$1.8
This shampoo is formulated without parabens, silicon, mineral oils. In other words without all the nasty stuff. The scent is energizing. I like the idea of it, I have used it a couple of times and I have to say that is cleans, dare I say strips my hair of everything. I feel like I need to load up on conditioner after using it. I might keep it as a weekly treatment to get rid of all the product residue but I personally need something more moisturizing. My hair is dry in itself, I don't need product help to make it drier.
2. Supergoop Correcting CC Cream with spf 35
Full size1.6 oz (45g): $32
Sample size :3ml (0.10 fl.oz) : $2
I repeat, sample size 3 ml. Really? How can I really try it on my face if you give me such a tiny amount? I'd get a bigger sample at Sephora. I compared it to Coola I got in March and I must say that it is darker and thicker. I am not even able to test it properly but a swatch test showed that it is too dark for me. Pass. Though to tell you the truth I am impressed with the SPF level.
As you can see Supergoop is darker than Coola and is more visible when applied. Coola is also a little bit more transparent, and even after application I find that I add some mineral powder to reach the right coverage. That's ok though because I don't have to worry about a dark yellow/tan line that comes with Supergoop and because once we have summer I will be glad to only have a very light coverage with a spf over my sweaty face. Coola it is for me.

3. Skin&Co Truffle Therapy Serum
Full size-30 ml - $75
Sample size - 5ml/0.17 fl oz - $12.50
See- I got a bigger sample of a face serum that I got of a cc cream - how stingy of Supergoop! ( I have noticed a trend in Bbox samples recently- they are getting smaller).
This serum is a advertised as a go to for dry skin. I am really glad to have had an opportunity to try it. Pity I received it in e spring- this time of a year I am usually looking for a good moisturizers and am done with oils for my face. I used it sparingly at night and it did leave my face plump. However I am not sure if it is the best product for me.
4. Cynthia Rowley Eyeliner
Full size 0.04 oz - $16
Well it's a nice, soft eyeliner in black. I will get a good use out of it ( please not that it is a smudgeable eyeliner meant to be mixed with eye shadows so that a nice smoky eye can be created). This is one item that I really liked out of my April Birchbox.
****Bonus Item****
It was ok, personally the taste of it was not my favorite. I like e fruit&nut granola bars if I have to pick any. As a snack it was good. If you are really concerned about your snacks, you should do what I do and pack your own. Not only will you know what you are eating but you will also save some money. Am I more likely to buy Kind bar in the future? Not really. I'm the almond snickers/ bounty type of girl when I do indulge.
What I liked from this box? Definitely the eyeliner, second was the shampoo sample. Was it worth it? Maybe. Personally I would have never bought this eyeliner for $16- I only splurge on Makeup Forever eyeliners (and they last forever) for my waterline. All my other eyeliners are more drugstore brands (Wet'nWild Perfect Pair Eyeliner in Blue is my personal fave and costs about $3.49 without any discounts, it also lasts the whole day and does not irritate my eyes). So I'm not totally in love with this box though I think that it has paid for itself with the full size product.
Did you like your box?
