It looks like Birchbox is trying to stay ahead of the race that has become the sample box business. In order to improve it's game- all the subscribers have received yesterday an email offer - one could choose either one shade of the sampler Cynthia Rowley lip stain or one out of three colors of Ruffian nail polish. 

The site did crash once all the East Coasters woke up and got to clicking, but in the afternoon that was fixed and we got another email letting us know that we can choose.

I am very happy with that option. I picked a color that I would normally not buy- just to test it out.
